At 17 years and 19 days old, Ngumoha became the youngest player in Liverpool's history to appear in a European competition. He replaced Florian Wirtz in the 74th minute, surpassing the previous record set by Trey Nyoni, who was 17 years and 213 days old when he featured in last season's Champions League match against PSV Eindhoven.

The match itself was a thrilling encounter. Liverpool surged to a 2-0 lead within the first six minutes, courtesy of goals from Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah. Atletico Madrid mounted a comeback through two goals from Marcos Llorente, leveling the score at 2-2. In the dying moments of the match, Van Dijk's header from a corner secured the win for Liverpool.

Ngumoha's introduction to the game added a youthful spark to Liverpool's attack. Since joining Liverpool from Chelsea's academy in the summer of 2024, Ngumoha has rapidly ascended through the ranks. He began with the Under-18s, progressed to the Under-21s, and has now firmly established himself in manager Arne Slot's first-team plans.
