"We conceded too early, and that made everything difficult," Pedro said. "In this league, those moments punish you. Everyone needs to look at themselves - me included. I feel sorry for the fans because they deserve better."

Any optimism generated by the recent FA Cup semi-final win over Leeds was quickly extinguished, with inconsistency once again undermining progress. Pedro acknowledged the need for collective improvement and accountability within the squad.

"We need to find a way to stop making the same mistakes," he added. "We talk about it, but we have to show it on the pitch. The motivation is there - now it's about being consistent and fighting for every point."

For Forest, the victory provided a timely boost ahead of their European assignment. Awoniyi, who will miss the second leg, backed his teammates to finish the job and reach the final.

"We've been through a lot this season, but the group has been brilliant," he said. "There are only a few games left, and we're approaching each one with the right mentality."
